Neurodivergent Therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a deep appreciation for the neurodivergent spectrum. I strive to be a neurodivergent affirming therapist, fostering an environment where individuals feel heard, validated, and empowered.

I aim to support Neurodivergent clients in overcoming challenges, enhancing self-awareness, and building meaningful connections. I aim to support Neurodivergent clients in overcoming challenges, enhancing self-awareness, and building meaningful connections. Neurodivergent therapy takes your unique needs into consideration and is flexible to accommodate you instead of you having to adjust to a standardised approach. Instead of focusing on “fixing” you it emphasises building on your individual strengths. I see your traits as a natural aspect of your Neurodivergence rather than problems that need to be changed or removed. Traditional therapy may lean more heavily on symptom management and normalisation. Whereas I want to guide you in finding a way of navigating life that supports you to thrive.

I appreciate that every Neurodivergent person is different and so have different needs and preferences. Therefore, I take a client-centred approach and make use of creative approaches where appropriate that are tailored to the individual. This approach is combined with a knowledge and understanding of the Neurodivergent experience through both lived experience and education. I endeavour to work collaboratively with everyone to create a space that works best for them.

Following sessions

We may have highlighted themes in the first session that you would like to explore further. I will usually refer to our previous session and ask if this is something you would like to explore further or whether there is something you had in mind that you wanted to bring to the session. Either way during therapy we usually begin to identify themes or patterns that are relevant to helping you to move forward. Remember counselling is a non-linear process and there may be challenges along the way particularly when exploring topics that are impactful for you. But going through this journey can be transformative and move you from surviving to thriving.
